where to find your credentials
Open the sprfst app and go to Account → Connection details. You’ll see:
- Username — your PPPoE username (format:
youraccountname@sprfst) - Password — your PPPoE password
- Protocol — PPPoE (this is always PPPoE for sprfst)
These are the details you enter into your router’s WAN or internet settings.
what each credential does
Username and password authenticate your router with our network when it establishes a PPPoE session. Without them, your router can connect to the NBN hardware but can’t get onto the internet.
PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) is the connection standard used by most Australian retail NBN providers. Your router should have a “PPPoE” option in its WAN/internet settings — select it before entering the username and password.
FTTN-specific: VPI and VCI
If you’re on FTTN and your router asks for VPI and VCI values, enter:
- VPI: 8
- VCI: 35
Not all FTTN routers require these. If your router connects without them, leave them at their defaults.
changing your password
You can regenerate your connection password from the app at any time under Account → Connection details → Reset password. After resetting, you’ll need to update the password in your router’s settings.
credentials not working?
If you’ve entered the credentials correctly but your router still won’t connect:
- Check that you’re using PPPoE, not DHCP or static IP
- Make sure the username includes the full domain (e.g.
name@sprfstnot justname) - Try copy-pasting from the app rather than typing manually
- Confirm the NBN equipment at your premises is powered on and showing a green light
If none of that helps, open in-app chat — we can verify your credentials from our end and check whether your service is active.
